How this week is structured: Day 1 eases you in with Old Dubai's heritage. Days 2–3 cover the skyline and Downtown. Day 4 is your beach and brunch day. Day 5 is the desert. Day 6 is Hatta (or the Palm if you haven't done it). Day 7 is a relaxed farewell with a sunset rooftop. Adjust to your interests — but keep Day 4 as Friday if at all possible (for the brunch).

Arrive & settle in
Check in, get oriented. If arriving from a long flight, take it easy — a short walk near your hotel and a good lunch is enough. If energy allows, head to Al Fahidi in the afternoon when the light softens.
Afternoon
Al Fahidi Heritage District
The wind-tower lanes, the Dubai Museum, the waterfront. Allow 2 hours. This is the original Dubai — mud-brick and coral architecture, courtyard houses, the city before oil. Walk slowly.
Arabian Tea House for an afternoon coffee and Emirati snack in the courtyard.

Abra across the Creek → Gold Souk
1 AED wooden boat to Deira. Walk through the Gold Souk arcade — 380 shops of gold and spectacle. Evening light makes the display cases glow. You don't need to buy anything. Allow 45 minutes.

Dinner in Deira or Bur Dubai
Eat where Dubai actually eats — a Pakistani or Indian restaurant in Deira for 30–50 AED of extraordinary food. Ravi Restaurant (Al Satwa) or Sind Punjab (Deira) are both legendary. Or the Al Seef waterfront for a more tourist-comfortable setting with Creek views.

Dubai Mall — morning browse
The mall at 10am is quiet and cool. See the aquarium panel (free), the indoor waterfall, and Fashion Avenue. Kinokuniya bookshop on Level 2 for a browse.

Lunch at Souk Al Bahar
Walk across the bridge to Souk Al Bahar. Terrace lunch with Fountain and Burj Khalifa views. Book ahead for a terrace table at Wafi Gourmet or similar.

⭐ Burj Khalifa At the Top
Your pre-booked sunset slot. 60-second lift to level 124. Outdoor terrace at level 125. Golden hour over Dubai. Stay until the city lights come on. The best paid experience in the city.

Descend and walk to the boardwalk. Watch the 6pm and 6:30pm shows. Free. Extraordinary.

Book a terrace table at any restaurant on the Fountain side — watch shows at 7pm, 7:30pm and 8pm from your table. The definitive Downtown evening.

Marina Walk — early morning
Take the Metro Red Line to DMCC. The Marina Walk at 8am is quiet and beautiful — reflections in the canal, boats, towers catching morning light. Coffee from a waterfront café.

Walk to JBR Beach. Swim, walk the sand, watch the city. The best free beach for Marina-area visitors. Leave by noon before it fills.

The most beautiful building in Dubai — and the exhibition inside is genuinely compelling. Allow 2 hours. Take the Metro from DMCC to Emirates Towers. Book tickets online.

Taxi to Souk Madinat Jumeirah. Folly by Nick & Scott — outdoor terrace, Burj Al Arab across the water, great cocktails, no minimum spend. The best-value rooftop sunset in Dubai. Arrive 30 minutes before sunset.

Dinner at Madinat or Kite Beach
Pai Thai at Madinat (book ahead) for a candle-lit dinner on the waterway. Or walk 10 minutes to Kite Beach's food trucks for a lighter, cheaper option.

Kite Beach — morning swim
Friday morning at Kite Beach before it fills. The food trucks open early — açaí bowls and good coffee. Swim while the water is at its coolest. Leave by 11am.

Your pre-booked Friday brunch. Options: Bubbalicious (Westin Mina Seyahi) for the full party experience, Pai Thai (Madinat) for atmosphere, or Atlantis The Palm for maximum food variety. Allow 3.5 hours.

Standard post-brunch trajectory. Hotel pool, a rest, a walk. Most people find this hour takes care of itself.

Light dinner or pool bar
Keep Friday evening light after brunch. Hotel pool bar, a casual dinner, or High Up rooftop at Address Beach for the evening lights if energy returns.
Day 5
Desert Safari — overnight
Morning
Relaxed morning — hotel or souk
The safari doesn't leave until 3pm. Use the morning for anything unfinished — more souk time, a spa, or just a slow breakfast. Pack for the overnight camp: layers for the evening, a phone charger, minimal luggage.
3:00 PM
⭐ Premium Desert Safari departs
Hotel pick-up. 45-minute drive southeast to the Al Marmoom dunes. Dune bashing, falconry, sunset over the red sand. Camp dinner under the stars. Overnight in the desert tent. Sunrise camel ride at dawn.
The overnight adds only modest extra cost over the evening safari and the sunrise in the desert is worth every dirham. Pre-book the premium tier.

Sunrise in the desert · Return
Dawn camel ride, silence, the Milky Way if you were up late, breakfast at the camp. Return transfer arrives back at your hotel by 9am.

Hatta Mountains day trip

Drive to Hatta
Hire a car for the day or pre-book a Hatta day tour. 1 hour east on the E44. The mountain drive is spectacular. Arrive before 9am.

Turquoise reservoir surrounded by granite mountains. Rent a kayak for 1 hour. The morning light on the water is extraordinary. One of the most beautiful views in the UAE.

Restored mud-brick settlement from centuries before the UAE. Free entry. 45 minutes. The mountain backdrop is excellent.

Good café with mountain views. Or a picnic by the dam — bring supplies from Dubai.

Mountain biking or zipline
Green trails on rental bikes (60 AED/hr) or the zipline across the dam (195 AED). Both excellent. Return to Dubai by 5:30pm.
Evening
Palm Jumeirah dinner
Use the evening for the Palm if you haven't been. Taxi to The Pointe for a meal with views of the Dubai skyline across the water. Or a more relaxed hotel dinner after the day's activity.
Day 7

Morning
Final swim or spa
Use your hotel pool or spa on the final morning. If you haven't done the Palm Jumeirah properly — monorail and Atlantis area — a morning visit is quick and rewarding.

End the week where Dubai ends every good evening. High Up at Address Beach Resort (world's highest infinity pool, 294m) for the full Marina and Gulf view. Or Skyview Bar at the Burj Al Arab if you want the iconic farewell. Either way: arrive 30 minutes before sunset, cocktail in hand.

Evening
Transfer to airport
Most European and long-haul flights depart late evening or early morning. A 9pm flight needs a taxi by 6:30pm (Metro if from Downtown). The airport is efficient — 2 hours ahead is sufficient for most departures.
