Friday brunch is Dubai's most distinctly local dining tradition — born from the weekend structure of the UAE (Friday–Saturday is the weekend, not Saturday–Sunday), and evolved over three decades into something that has no real equivalent anywhere else. It is, in essence, a 3–4 hour unlimited food and drinks event held at hotel restaurants every Friday from around noon to 4pm.
The format: you pay a fixed price per person, choose a package (soft drinks only, house beverages, or premium/unlimited), and then eat and drink to your heart's content from a spread that ranges from buffet to live cooking stations to passed canapés to full à-la-carte depending on the venue. The ambience varies from family-friendly to full party brunch with DJ sets and dancing. Dubai residents treat it as a weekly social event. Visitors who discover it typically rank it as one of their trip highlights.
Friday is not the only brunch day — Saturday brunches exist too, and some venues run Thursday evening equivalents. But Friday is the original and the primary event. Book ahead. The best brunches fill 1–2 weeks in advance in peak season.

How to do Friday brunch right
Booking
Book at least one week ahead for most brunches in peak season (November–March). Bubbalicious and Nobu book out 2–3 weeks ahead for the best tables. Book directly through the hotel or restaurant website — most have online booking. Some brunches have a "best table" option at a supplement; worth paying for sunset views or Fountain-facing positions.
Timing
Most brunches run 12:30pm–4:00pm or 1:00pm–4:30pm. Arrive within 30 minutes of start time — this gets you the best food selection before stations run low, and you settle in as the atmosphere builds. Arriving at 3pm for a 4pm close is not the way to experience it.
What to expect on the day
Wear smart casual — most Dubai brunches enforce this, and you'll feel underdressed in shorts and flip-flops even at the more relaxed ones. You'll be seated, your package confirmed, and drinks will arrive almost immediately. The food is a mix of buffet stations, live cooking and sometimes passed dishes. Pace yourself — the temptation is to eat everything in the first 45 minutes. The best brunches are marathons, not sprints.
After brunch
The standard Dubai Friday trajectory: brunch ends around 4pm, then the group migrates to a rooftop bar or pool party for sundowners. Many of the hotels running brunches also have pool and rooftop facilities that transition naturally from the brunch end time. Plan your day around this — it's the classic Dubai Friday.
Don't drink and drive. Take a taxi or Careem to and from your brunch. Parking at Dubai hotels is generally plentiful but drink-driving in the UAE carries severe consequences — zero tolerance, no exceptions. The cost of a taxi both ways is trivial relative to the brunch spend.
