§ 01 — The hotels
Where to stay — the honest luxury hierarchy
Burj Al Arab Jumeirah — The world's most recognised hotel silhouette, still the ultimate Dubai status stay. All-suite, butler service, helipad arrivals available, Skyview Bar for non-guests at 800 AED pp (redeemable against food and drink). Book the Panoramic Suite for the Fountain-facing views that wrap the suite on three sides. The service level justifies the cost if this kind of experience matters to you.
Atlantis The Royal — Newer (2023), more spectacularly designed, with the best pool complex in Dubai (eight infinity pools including a bridge pool 90m above ground), Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Nobu, Jaleo by José Andrés and Kyber. The Royal Suite starts at AED 30,000 per night. For over-the-top spectacular, this is the current leader.
Armani Hotel Dubai — Inside the Burj Khalifa, designed by Giorgio Armani himself. The most distinctive address in Downtown. Priority At the Top access, Fountain-facing suites, the Armani aesthetic applied to every surface. Smaller and more intimate than the Atlantis properties. The Fountain Suite is the definitive Downtown Dubai luxury room.
One&Only The Palm — Adults-only on the Palm, with Stay by Alain Ducasse (two Michelin stars), Drift Beach Club, and the most refined service culture of any hotel in Dubai. The antithesis of loud luxury — quieter, more considered, aimed at guests who know the difference. Best for couples who want the Palm at its most serene.
Four Seasons Resort Jumeirah Beach — Consistently rated Dubai's best hotel for service, with a private beach, excellent pool, and the strongest F&B programme of any non-icon hotel. Less theatrical than Burj Al Arab, more reliably excellent in every category that matters. Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay and Coya are both on-site.
Al Maha Desert Resort — In a completely different category: 45 minutes into the desert conservation reserve, 42 standalone suites each with a private pool, all meals and activities included. Arabian oryx wander past your terrace. The most immersive, most intimate luxury in the UAE. One night minimum; two nights ideal.
