For travellers, a road link to Al Maktoum International Airport becomes more important as DWC expands over the coming years. It does not change which airport you should use today: always follow the airport code on your ticket. But a stronger road network around DWC matters as more passenger and logistics activity moves towards the southern side of the emirate.
Etihad Rail adds another layer. Passenger rail and freight rail can remove some journeys from the road network, while road access is still needed at stations, depots, logistics sites and industrial areas.
